Leeds Art Gallery Community Engagement

I am Freelance Community Curator at Leeds Art Gallery until the end of April 2018, looking after Art Chat and Meet & Make sessions on Fridays.

I also worked on two projects for Leeds Art Gallery while the building was closed for refurbishment.

The first was working with older people in Leeds to add their memories to a gallery timeline. We made collages while we talked about Leeds and any memories of the gallery itself. The timeline will be displayed in the gallery early in 2018 and will be flexible so that new memories can be added as more memories are shared.

The second project involved screening artist films from the gallery collection in the mini-cinema within Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills. We watched the films and then discussed them over tea and cake, with an opportunity to join in with a workshop related to the film shown. Workshops included macrame, making and eating food together, printing, singing and making pom-poms.
